In "Of Mice and Men," Steinbeck brilliantly showcases his ability to create characters who are as captivating as they are realistic, and to speak of common human emotions such as loneliness and the longing for a dignified life while telling a specific story. It is a classic novel about the painful period of the American Great Depression. A work of fiction to be read and reread.
